Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy, also known as counseling or psychotherapy, is a collaborative process where you work with a trained professional to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that may be causing distress or impacting your well-being. Therapy can provide a safe and supportive space to gain insight, develop coping strategies, and work towards personal growth and positive change.

  • As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am trained to support clients with a variety of general issues including depression, anxiety, stress, adjustment concerns, grief/loss, identity shifts and trauma.

I have a few areas of focus that I am particularly interested in and have completed additional training. I enjoy working with individuals and couples navigating pregnancy, birth, and postpartum as well as parenting young children. I also work with neurodivergent teens and adults (ADHD) in a more structured psychotherapy setting.

  • Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes and couples counseling sessions are 60 minutes. The frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals. In the beginning, weekly sessions are common, but we can discuss a schedule that best fits your needs and circumstances.

  • The duration of therapy varies for each person. Some clients find that a few months of therapy are sufficient to address their concerns, while others may benefit from longer-term support. We will regularly review your progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.

  • Therapy can be beneficial for anyone seeking personal growth, coping skills, or support during challenging times. If you are experiencing emotional distress, struggling with relationships, or facing life transitions, therapy can be an effective resource to help you navigate these experiences.

  • Numerous studies have shown that therapy can be highly effective in improving mental health, overall well-being and quality of life. The effectiveness of therapy depends on various factors, including the client's motivation, the therapeutic relationship, and the commitment to the process. I will work collaboratively with you to create a supportive and effective therapeutic experience.

  • Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of therapy. As a licensed therapist, I adhere to strict ethical guidelines and legal requirements to protect your privacy and confidentiality. Your personal information and the content of our sessions will remain confidential, except in specific circumstances required by law or when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others.

  • My out-of-pocket rates are $135 for individual therapy (50 min) and $160 for couples counseling (60 min). All new clients complete an initial intake and evaluation session (75 min), billed at $200. A payment method is required on file prior to the first session and charged after the session ends. I accept all major debit/credit cards as well as Health Savings Accounts.

  • Yes, I have a limited amount of reduced fee sessions available in order to make therapy accessible for folks with a lower income. You can choose a rate that works with your current financial situation. Please inquire about sliding-scale options at our first meeting. You can also view my Open Path profile, an organization connecting clients to affordable therapists.

  • Yes, I accept Oregon Health Plan (OHP).

  • Yes, I can provide you with a superbill (itemized receipt) for reimbursement if you have out of network coverage and want to use your insurance. Please note that it is your responsibility to check whether your insurance would accept a superbill. Here are some questions to ask your insurance company to check if they would reimburse with a superbill:

    1. Does my plan provide reimbursement for out-of-network mental health care with a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon?
    2. If so, is there a separate deductible?
    3. What percentage of out-of-network costs does my plan cover?
    4. Do I need pre-authorization for out-of-network services?
    5. Is there a limit to the number of sessions that will be reimbursed per year?
    6. How do I submit for out-of-network reimbursement?

  • To schedule an appointment, you can email me at midmaplestherapy@gmail.com or call (971) 415-1503. I aim to respond promptly and will work with you to find a convenient time for our initial session.

  •
My practice is solely virtual at this time, which means we will meet using a secure and encrypted Telehealth platform. Telehealth allows therapists to conduct counseling sessions with clients through video calls or phone calls, providing a convenient and accessible way for individuals to receive mental health support from the comfort of their own homes. Telehealth also allows for more flexible scheduling options and can ensure clients continue to receive support during unexpected events, such as a global pandemic or personal emergency.

  • Unfortunately, no. As a licensed therapist in Oregon, I am limited to providing therapy services to clients who are physically located within the state. This limitation is due to the jurisdictional restrictions of state licensing boards and the laws governing the practice of therapy.
